Youth Film Festival deadline nears
Film makers in Haringey have just over two weeks left to submit their work to the fourth Youth Film Festival.
The festival forms part of the four-day International Short Film Festival at the Cineworld cinema in Wood Green.
On Youth Film Day, a variety of short films produced by people under the age of 21 will be shown. This gives young people an opportunity to share their work, get feedback from experts and compete for prizes.
The day is organised by Fast Forward group - a youth-led organisation in Tottenham – with the support of Power Play Productions.
Councillor Lorna Reith, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to show their work to a wider audience and to develop their film making skills. As host borough, we hope that many of the films on show will have been produced by young people from Haringey.”
Young people can submit short films, documentaries, music videos and animations. The films must be between 30 seconds and ten minutes long, and need to be submitted by 12 February 2010.
Issy Harvey, artistic director of Power Play Productions, said: “As well as showing some great films, there will be opportunities for young people to learn more about the film industry through debates, question and answer sessions and workshops.
“We will be celebrating the achievements of young people, but hopefully also giving them the inspiration and skills they need to take things further.”
